The Women, the Men, the Promise, 2014. Oil on linen; each piece of the triptych 28 x 36 cm
A century ago, Europe plunged the world into over four years of armed conflict on a scale never experienced before. With this historical, tragic centenary in mind, Hanne decided to paint a homage reflecting the valiant efforts of servicemen and women while representing a positive outcome of the war as well. Two sculpted French memorials in Reims and in Yvoire and multiple national flags, singularly unidentifiable but standing together outside the United Nations Office in Geneva, were the inspiration for this triptych.
