ENCOUNTERS

Blitz observes with Encounters the human-as-tourist response the moment people encounter a landmark, a monument or a work of art. As a reference to the particle collisions inside CERN's Large Hadron Collider Encounters has been specifically curated for the European Organization for Nuclear Research.
At least once in their journeys around the world, tourists mentally collide with a vista or landmark that strikes them.
Through studied observation and a gut feeling for the right moment, Blitz captured people's initial reflections or surprising involuntary reactions. Sometimes the tourist attractions triggered a change in their facial expression, while other times there was a more contemplated response, like the couple posing for themselves in Philadelphia.
